Mardee Merrill joined LPA to serve as the new School Counselor. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Utah in Sociology and Criminology. She continued on to complete a Masters of Arts in Education (Educational Psychology) from the University of Phoenix. Mrs. Merrill became licensed through USOE to work with students from Kindergarten through twelfth grades in the capacity of School Counselor.
Her first true experience combining education and counseling was when she worked for the Youth in Custody program with Granite School District. This felt like a perfect match for Mrs. Merrill to be able to combine her love for teaching and desire to advocate for youth. She has served as a School Counselor in Park City and Granite School Districts as well as a few different Charter Schools.
Mrs. Merrill has worked with CHADD, taken courses in Applied Behavior Therapies and has been trained in the Love & Logic Discipline Methods for parents & teachers. She feels that her best education was gained when she took time off while her two children were babies. Her oldest son’s disabilities have given her the knowledge and compassion for understanding the demands and necessities of other Special Needs children.
In her spare time, she LOVES to travel, volunteer for community events, work on writing special needs children’s books and spending quality time with her “technological son,” and “creative daughter!”
