6th-9th Grade Teacher
Yvonne Douglass is in her second year at LPA where she is a Mathematics and Special Education teacher. Yvonne was raised in Ohio. She graduated from Bowling Green State University with a B.S. in Chemistry and a Mathematics minor, also a second B.S. in Chemistry Education and Mathematics Education.
After teaching high school for three years, she left education for a chemistry research position at Procter & Gamble. For thirteen years, she worked in the Food and Beverage division where she worked on fats and fat replacement products like Crisco and Olestra. She left the work force to start a family. During her time raising children, she completed a Masters of Education in Curriculum.
The Douglass family moved to Utah several years ago when Mrs. Douglass started substitute teaching. She substituted in Special Education and found a new passion for teaching. She will complete her Masters in Special Education this year. She enjoys seeing the Aha! moments when the children can put the pieces together and she loves celebrating the little steps that lead to break through thinking.
Besides loving to learn and taking classes, Mrs. Douglass enjoys reading suspense fiction, spending time with family, and helping others.
